Before you dive into setting up a task, it’s good to know who’s who in the task game. Two key players you'll encounter are the Target and the Assignee—and while they might sound interchangeable, they play very different roles.
Let’s break it down:
Who’s the Target?
Think of the Target as the person the task is about. They're the subject of the task—whether they're receiving something, being reviewed, or needing an action done for them.
Who’s the Assignee?
The Assignee is the person doing the work—the one responsible for carrying out the task.
Here’s how it looks in action:
Example 1: Sending a Handbook to a New Hire
Target: The new hire (it’s all about them!)
Assignee: Also the new hire (they’re the ones who need to read and acknowledge the handbook)
Example 2: Sharing a Performance Review
Target: The employee being reviewed
Assignee: The manager who needs to fill out or deliver the review
Pro Tip: Always double-check who the task is for (Target) and who needs to make it happen (Assignee). This makes your task flows smooth and keeps everyone on track.
